June 2018 update

July 15, 2018 by Stephen Nichols

This has been another busy month, starting with altering existing kitchen units, fitting a fridge/freezer tower unit and built-in appliances to a brand new house in Avocet Way.

The Hedenham job has moved on, with the fitting of French doors complete with double glazed units, skirting to the summer house, and new electrics all up and running.

In the middle of the month I began work on a garage conversion at Holly Blue Road,Wymondham. Work included new floor joists, insulation and flooring, complete new plasterboard ceiling, removal of existing garage doors and frames, new concrete footings, and brickwork to the front with openings left for new windows. I also created an opening for new French doors, and fitted a velux roof window. The inner walls have all been insulated and timber studwork frames fitted.

May 2018 update

June 2, 2018 by Stephen Nichols

This month has continued what has already been a very busy spring.

The first week of the month saw me in Diss taking out a wall between an existing kitchen and dining room, fitting a steel beam to hold up the rest of the wall and roof, whilst still looking after other jobs being completed at my Hedenham site.

I also supplied and fitted temporary walling in the church of St Francis, Heartsease, Norwich whilst major building works get under way.

During the remainder of the month I have been continuing with the process of revamping the outbuilding in Hedenham. These works included fascias, guttering, downpipes, boarding out the canopy roof, bricking up doorways, surface water drains into a 60′ well, insulating and plasterboarding summer house ceiling, battening, insulating and plasterboarding summer house walls, as well as some internal works to the main house.

Following receipt of planning approval I have also now been booked to complete a double garage conversion in Wymondham.

Note to self: must try harder to get jobs closer to home!

April 2018 update

May 7, 2018 by Stephen Nichols

Following an early Easter I returned to St Catherine’s church in Mile Cross, cutting out and repointing to the church’s north and south porches, and repairing the dance studio ceiling in the church hall.

The rest of the month I’ve been in the process of re-vamping outbuildings to a property in Hedenham. These works include cutting out internal walls, forming trusses into the roof, cutting and fitting a new canopy roof, stripping off all the old tiles, felt and battens, then fitting new felt, battens, Velux roof windows, and re-tiling the roof using as many original tiles as possible.

March 2018 update

April 1, 2018 by Stephen Nichols

This month has been full on.

Following a couple of days off because of The Beast From The East, the whole month has been taken up with work for a Norwich kitchen & bathroom company: firstly re-hanging a bathroom door to open outwards in Thorpe End, followed by major works in Mulbarton, which involved removing a wall between a dining room and kitchen, fitting an RSJ lintel to hold up the floors above, making good to walls and ceilings, taking up existing kitchen floor tiles, cutting and fitting skirtings, and then for the last ten days of the month I was tiling the study, hall, dining room, and kitchen floors with porcelain wood-effect tiles laid to a diagonal pattern.

More enquiries have come in from personal recommendations and/or this web site, a number of which have led to me planning personal visits in the first week of April to discuss requirements further, and hopefully to then issue estimates with a view to work this summer.

Easter weekend came and went all too quickly!

February 2018 update

February 28, 2018 by Stephen Nichols

I’ve taken down part of a ceiling following a roof leak at St Catherine’s Church hall, Mile Cross, and am awaiting repair of the box gutter by a specialist firm before replacing the ceiling.

A day off for my wife’s birthday saw us have a great walk to see the seals at Horsey, before a hearty lunch at Banningham Crown.

Having fitted new worktops to a kitchen in Wooll Drive, North Walsham, in December last year, the client called me back as she had decided to replace the whole kitchen, re-using the new worktops, getting in more units for storage, altering the electrics, and finishing off with glazed wall tiles.

I’ve also extended an existing kitchen at Peter Pulling Drive, Queens Hill, by fitting an oven tower and pull out larder units with additional base/wall units and worktops to match.

Business remains brisk, and I’ve had so many recent enquiries that I’m going to be unable to take them all on  as I’m currently booked up for March, April, and now taking bookings into May.
