Carpenter and Joiner
The return to work at the beginning of the month saw the bedroom finished off in Wramplingham.
I spent a day at St Francis Church on the Heartsease easing doors, putting up notice boards and pictures, and taking down a temporary screen.
The main job of the month was then the stripping out of a complete existing kitchen at Hawthorne Rise, Mundesley, and the supply & fitting of a new Magnet kitchen. Just the tiling and some finishing touches to be completed in February.
November started by fitting a solid oak ledged and braced door to an en suite shower room in Hingham.
The main job of the month was fitting a new kitchen complete at Debenne Road, North Walsham. These works included replacing the existing ceiling, a full rewire of the kitchen, replastering, fitting new units, worktops and appliances.
I also fitted studwork, door lining and door to form an en suite at Vera Road, Rackheath, for a Norwich kitchen and bathroom company,
I ended a busy month by fitting new worktops to a kitchen at Judge’s Gardens, Thorpe Marriott, and a new loft hatch with steps and flooring to a bungalow in Hawthorne Rise, Mundesley.
December arrived with a bang as my 5 week old grandson Alexander gave us all a scare when he was admitted to Great Ormond Street Hospital with heart problems. The skill and treatment he received there worked wonders, and he is now home and doing well.
For the rest of the month I have been in Wramplingham converting a former bathroom back into a new double bedroom, which now just needs finishing off in the New Year.

This month’s work involved converting the back half of a garage in Fairfield Close, Little Plumstead, into a dressing/relaxing room to accompany the outside sauna (being fitted by others). Work included removing existing personnel door from garage, bricking it up, taking out a window and the fitting of timber French doors and frame. Walls and ceiling were insulated before being clad with pine tongue & groove boarding.
Other works completed include the hanging of 9 internal oak doors complete and replacing the kitchen worktops in Devon Avenue, Hellesdon
and finishing off bathroom and other works at Grange Close, Hoveton, before first baby arrived (so early that no photos have yet been approved!).
I also completed 2 jobs for a Norwich Bathroom & Kitchen company, fitting a new bathroom door, newel post and handrail at Wramplingham
as well as removing an existing bathroom window, fitting a new and smaller window, brick and block up as required at Victoria Close, Taverham.
I began this month digging out and fitting drains – (what part of this is carpentry, you might ask!) – ready for a new bathroom being created in a 3 bed semi-detached house in Grange Close, Hoveton. Developing this bathroom involved converting an existing bedroom into a bathroom by closing down the bedroom with a stud wall and knocking through into an adjacent bedroom to form walk-in wardrobes in the newly borrowed space. Neat way to take 2 bedrooms and make a bathroom, a bedroom, and some really useful storage. First baby on the way so important to get the house working really effectively before s/he arrives!
In Belaugh I have also completed bricking up an existing bathroom window and installing a Velux window into the bathroom roof:
I’ve also rehung a shower room door (so that it opens out) in a property on College Road, Norwich – both of these jobs for a Norwich bathroom & kitchen company.
Following a family wedding at the end of July, it was back to work at the beginning of August, initially at Holly Blue Road, Wymondham. Loft hatch and insulation, plasterboard and door linings were fitted. The whole garage conversion was then plastered. New internal doors, skirting and architraves completes all the building works required at this site.
Other work completed this month included loft flooring to a bungalow in Mundesley, and the full redecoration of a 2 bedroomed flat in Sprowston.
