September update

October 1, 2017 by Stephen Nichols

The end of August and month of September saw me continuing with building works on the extension for Mr & Mrs Butler in Sprowston, following their return from holiday. I constructed a built-in cupboard, fitted a full glass lounge door; the new first fix for electrics took place, as well as insulation cut and fitted to walls, followed by ceilings and walls being boarded and plastered.

Other work completed includes:-

Boarding out loft centre span, supplying and fixing new loft hatch and ladder, cutting and fitting ramped decking area for wheelchair access to a property in Attleborough.

For a Norwich Bathroom/kitchen firm I have fitted oak doors to an en suite bathroom in Dussindale, plus major building works involving propping up floors, taking out a load bearing dividing wall between kitchen and dining room and fitting steel beams and posts to hold it all up at a property in Stan Petersen Close, Norwich.

No need to mention the jobs at home – yes, you’ve guessed it: the wife’s still waiting!

August update

August 20, 2017 by Stephen Nichols

Following my wonderful holiday in Skiathos I returned to continue building works on the extension in Sprowston. White UPVC fascias, soffits, and gutters were fitted, along with expanding metal lath sheets to the exterior walls. The roof covering and flashings have been completed, and new french doors and windows have also been installed. The dividing wall and window has been removed completely and an RSJ has been installed to hold up the roof.

Other works completed include brickwork repairs above french doors and windows in Trimingham; the replacement of ten internal doors complete with new latches and handles at a property in Marlborough Court in Norwich; fitting a stud wall and new door to form a shower room in Tacolneston for a Norwich bathroom and kitchen firm.

Photos of the above work can be seen in the relevant section of “My Work” pages.

I’ve also fitted coping stones to top a wall at home – the wife (almost) happy!

July update

July 25, 2017 by Stephen Nichols

From mid-June through to mid-July saw works completed at Lyng. Stone worktops have been fitted to kitchen units and island. Sink, hob, LED lighting, spots and dining rooms lights have been fitted. Kitchen, dining room and hall architraves and skirtings also finished.

Additionally I have completed work for a Norwich bathroom & kitchen company fitting a new bedroom window into the gable end of a cottage in Caister-St-Edmund, and other building works at a cottage in Martham.

July sees work get underway for  an existing and ongoing client with a ground floor extension in Sprowston: studwork walls, OSB cladding, timber joists, and insulated roof deck are all completed before I go off on holiday for a fortnight’s well-deserved rest in Greece!

Sprowston extension commenced

Oh dear, the wife STILL waiting for those jobs to be finished at home…:-(

June update

July 25, 2017 by Stephen Nichols

I have continued to be very busy, (hence this update being written in July instead of June!)

The works at Lyng got into full swing: the first floor bathroom has been completed, with new bath, shower, shower panels, fitted furniture, sink, toilet, large mirror and new bathroom door. The kitchen and dining room have been plastered and coved. A Buildbase kitchen has been delivered. Larder, base and wall units have been fitted, complete with doors, handles, cornice, pelmet, oven and fridge freezer. Base units and island have been templated for new stone worktops.

Other works completed elsewhere include building a studwork and shiplap boarding bicycle/fishing rod store for a client in Wroxham

I have also been working to form a cloakroom for a downstairs toilet at a property on Lovelace Road, NR4.

Meanwhile, the wife continues to wait (not terribly patiently!) for those little jobs I need todo at home!

Spring has sprung!

May 16, 2017 by Stephen Nichols

The end of April and early part of May has been pretty full-on, as the main building works began at Lyng. The front bedroom en suite is now complete, with new toilet, sink unit, large shower enclosure, lights, extractor fan, and flooring:- just the decorating outstanding.
The existing first floor bathroom has been completely ripped out. New wiring has been installed and it has been plastered, with the new bathroom being fitted this week.
Major works have started on the kitchen and dining room: the existing wall between the two has been removed, and a large RSJ installed. The wiring, alterations and plumbing for the new layout have been completed. The walls, ceilings and beam have been plasterboarded ready for plastering.

Here are a few photos of work in progress:-

Any jobs the wife is hoping I might get time for are currently on hold!
